Edit a Queue

When editing a queue, you can select Queue Groups (if already created), configure a specific network card reader, and configure mobile settings for this queue.

  1. Select QueuesList from the ribbon.
  2. Click on the Display Name of the Queue you want to edit.
  3. Make changes to the field as needed. All options are described in the sections below.

Queue

  • Friendly Name – The device name a user will see in the Job list.
  • Offline – If you want to prevent users from temporarily selecting this queue, take the queue offline. The queue will not be available to choose in the Job List.
  • Queue – The queue (Windows printer) on the server that the jobs will release to.
  • Type – Determine how Printanista Workflow handles print jobs submitted to this queue. See What is a Print Queue? for details.
  • Show in release list – When set to 'Yes', the queue will appear as a possible selection in the release queues within My Workflow. If set to 'No', users will not be able to view nor select this queue.
  • Maps to Printer – The Printanista Workflow Printer to which jobs will be reported as printed.
  • Mapped to embedded – Embedded solutions are not supported in this release. If embedded solutions are configured and set to release to this queue, the options will appear here for you to choose from. Refer to Configure Embedded Copiers for details.
  • Ask for hold: Prompts the user if the job should be held in the secure queue, or printed immediately.

Groups

For a detailed explanation of Queue Groups, see Implement Queue Groups. A pick list will appear for these options only if you have already configured at least one Compatibility Group and at least one Load Balance group. Otherwise, you will see 'No groups defined' beside the group type.

  • Compatibility – Assigns this queue as a member of a compatibility Queue Group. All group members must share compatible print drivers, so be sure this queue has a compatible driver to other members of the group. Users can release jobs to any compatible device that is part of the group.
  • Load balance – Assigns this queue as a member of a Load Balance Queue Group. These groups also share compatible print drivers, but are userd to distribute print load to multiple printers based on availability.

Network Card Reader Release

Complete these options to associate a network card reader with this queue. The user can swipe their card to release print jobs from the queue. Refer to Configure Network Card Release for further configuration information.

You must enter the fully qualified IP address and the port number of the network card reader.

Remote Print Service Settings

If you would like to enable Remote Print Service to support users with mobile devices, refer to Remote Print Service for complete instructions.

Advanced Matching

This section determines that a printer a user prints to matches a queue set up as a Secure Queue.

  • Match option – choose one option:
    • StandardWorkflow will match if the user prints directly to the queue, either via the UNC, or if it is a Direct IP printer, if anyone prints to that Direct IP printer anywhere on the network.

    • Direct Print OnlyWorkflow only matches if the user prints directly to that printer. This option provides a method to for a server to have a Direct IP printer setup but shared, and make sure that people only match to the queue if they are printing to the share.

    • AllWorkflowwill match based on merging as well. For example, if you manually merged Printer B into Printer A, and Printer A is setup as a Queue, then when you print to Printer B it will secure the print job.

  • Add Alias – Allows you to choose any printer in the system to map to the Queue.

Status

The status section provides at-a-glance information about the queue including:

  • Health – Indicates if the printer is an operable state (Green), or a down state (Red).
  • Queued job - The number of jobs currently queued and waiting to print
  • Status – The queue status changes depending on if the printer is printing or not.
