Set General Authentication Options

General authentication settings determine how user information is added, reported and controlled.

  1. Select Administration from the ribbon.
  2. Select SettingsNetwork and Authentication.
  3. In the General section, set the following options.
    • Network Type:  Options are Active Directory, Windows Peer to Peer or Windows NT Domain. The network type changes the information of new users as they print, but does not affect existing users. If you change the network type when you have existing users, the next time they print they are added to the list with the new network information and Workflow treats them as different users and the default tracking and security profiles are applied. As a result, a user tracked with the original network type setting can have different rights and tracking behavior than those users tracked under the new network type.

    • Tip: If you change the network type, you are prompted to enter your authentication credentials immediately.
If you select Active Directory, you can optionally enter Enter Active Directory Credentials in the event of a problem communicating with the AD server
    • Require SSL: Enable this option to encrypt all authentication information with an SSL certificate.
    • Web site authentication: Choose the authentication type that users will be required to enter to complete authentication. Options are PIN, PIN and Password, or Network.
    • PIN label: The text you enter here appears as the label for the PIN code field. If configuring Swipe cards, the user can swipe their card as their PIN entry.
    • PIN password label: The text you enter here appears as the label for the PIN Password field.
    • Tip: PIN label and PIN Password label options provide the ability to offer card swipe and password authentication, where the card swipe acts as PIN entry, and the user must still enter a password to complete authentication.
    • Require password for PIN or Card: Set this option to Yes to change all authentication settings that are currently using PIN or Card to require PIN and Password or Card and Password instead to enforce two factor authentication.
